Memorable Moments Jar

January 10, 2014

It's the beginning of a new year and I wanted to start a new tradition in our family.  Since I have such young kids, I wanted to do better about writing down all the wonderful, silly, funny things that happen.  I have never been good at keeping a journal.  I tried when I was young; I read through it and about every third or fourth entry I would promise myself that I would do better and write in it everyday.  I wouldn't even last a week!  Then my next entry would be dated months later.  I know myself, I know I won't write down each day what happened.  I came across the idea for this memory jar here.  It is PERFECT for me!  I can keep it in a visible spot to remind me through out the day, I can take a minute and record whatever moment just happened that I don't want to forget.  To make it even easier, I added post-it notes and a pen to the container, so I won't have to go searching for a piece of paper and pen.  No excuses!

I found this container in the kitchen storage section at Walmart.
It's about 4 inches x 4 inches.

I found these Sticky pen holders at Wal-Mart, they work great!

I used a full sticky back Post-It Note Pad to attach to the container, then added regular Post-Its on top.

I'm excited to read and remember all the moments that made this year great next January!
Happy 2014 to everyone!

Helicopter Cake

January 15, 2014

My baby just turned TWO and for his birthday I did a Helicopter theme.  He loves planes and helicopters.  I found my inspiration for his cake at essentialkids.  It was much easier than I anticipated.  I thought it came out pretty good!
